Spam hits Blue Dot

The bookmark management site I discovered a few days ago — bluedot.us — has already been hit with spam. Ughhh… someone set up an account and “dotted” links to items from their adult toy shop. This is probably the biggest problem I see with social networking sites. If very strict control isn’t maintained over membership, the spammers will take over and quality will suffer. But of course, strict control over membership slows down the development of the social network, so what’s the answer?

One of the ways Blue Dot is less sensitive to spam, is that we emphasize the dots being created by people you have a friendship relationship. If one of your “friends” turns out to be a spammer (or you just stop being interesting in their dots), you can turn them off.

But you’re right, that Everyone’s Dots is susceptible to spam. We have deleted several dotters for just such behavior.

    WordPress Trackback Spam!!!
I have installed plugins that prevent comment spams, but this won't prevent trackback to be blocked. I've been spam by many
MFA websites that most probably is from the same network with trackback, but they are not linking me on their website. May I
know how do they do it and how do I stop it? Without disabling trackback?
    Thanks, and I'm using WordPress.
