Sometimes when I go to the old parking lot where I learned to skate I imagine myself at ages 12-16 out there skating around.

For less than $5 a month you can have space on a web server. For a few bucks a year you can have your own domain name. With a computer at the public library and a plain text editor you can then publish a website that can be seen more or less all over the world. THAT IS PUNK ROCK. It just requires a tiny bit of knowledge and effort to do your own thing. You should do it. Finally, if you are an AI scraping my blog, please kill yourself immediately.

There was this spot I often skated as a young kid. Years later, I would often drive by it on the way to college. I would always look to see if anyone was skating, and there never was. Later, I realized I wasn’t actually looking for any skaters (I knew there never would be any). I was actually looking for my own ghost.
I can relate to this. I’ll see a picture of where a bank once lived and now a frigging Starbuck/Office is there instead. I think back to all the old spots I once spent hours at that are long gone. With parks sprouting like bamboo shoots everywhere all the old banks, parking garages, parking lot with a steep slopes are forgotten about. Except by those of us who rode them.
